Summer School at JCC is all new. Beginning this summer, we will be utilizing a computer program called A+ Software. All core curriculum classes will be available for the purpose of recovering failed credits. We are considering a charge of $50 per class. The number of days and hours the class time will be offered has yet to be determined, but at this time, we are mainly looking at the month of June for Summer School. The number of interested students will determine the number of days and hours per day JCC Summer School is offered.
With this new A+ Software program, each student will be working independently on the computer. A teacher will be monitoring the class and be available for questions. Each class has a required number of assignments to be finished with a passing grade to successfully complete the course. The student will work at his/her own pace and may finish early or take the entire Summer School session to complete the required assignments. There is no penalty for finishing early, but the course assignments must be completed by the predetermined end date of the summer session.
This software can also be utilized as a Special Education teaching tool, ACT Prep course and can give us the ability to offer Advanced courses. We at JCC are excited at the educational possibilities it will provide our district. Right now, the use as a credit recovery tool will be it's main purpose, but we are looking into expanding it's use to enhance our student's education.
If you have any questions about Summer School or the A+ Software program, please don't hesitate to call me.
