Elementary Principal's Corner

Great Start
We are off and running with the start of the 2008-2009
school year. Both elementary buildings look great thanks to the
hard work of the janitorial staff. The Tecumseh site has new
lighting and fresh paint in the halls which really brightens up the
building. There are 79 students at the Cook site and 185 students
at the Tecumseh site.
Safety Concerns
Elementary students are very active and have recess
outside where they swing, run, climb on equipment, and play on the
merry-go-round so proper footwear is suggested to keep them safe.
Students who wear flip-flops could easily get hurt by catching a
toe on the ground or equipment, trip, or the flip-flop might come
off or break causing an injury. It is suggested that students wear
secure footwear.
Parents at the Tecumseh site please beware of the no parking signs which are placed at the corners and before crosswalks. These are there for the safety of the children.
Please talk to your child about using the sidewalk if they are walking to and from school. We have had a report of students walking in the middle of the street.
Early Arrival
Students are encouraged not to arrive before 8:00 unless
they are eating breakfast or riding the bus because supervision
does not begin until 8:00.
Handbooks
Your child should have already brought home the
elementary handbook. We need the last two pages completed and
returned to school (Alert Now with phone numbers and the handbook
receipt).
Meal Money
Our school meals are to be purchased in advance.
Students are to pay in the morning before school. Charging for
school lunch is not allowed. If you think you might qualify for
free/reduced meals, forms are in the office.
Visit
I want to encourage you to visit school, whether that’s
to visit your child’s classroom or to eat lunch with them. I have
tried to be in both buildings daily. If you want to visit with me
please call and I will schedule a time for our visit.
