Preschool News from the Cook Site

Apples, apples, apples—that is our current theme in the preschool room. After trying different kinds of apples, we enjoyed creating “Our Favorite Kind of Apple” graph to record the results of our tasting experience. A Red Delicious apple was the most popular kind of apple in our classroom. We also made a graph depicting our favorite food made from apples.

It tickled when Mrs. Othmer and Mrs. Fender painted our hands with green and brown paint; we used our handprints to create a huge apple tree which you can see hanging on our classroom door. Each of us also had the opportunity to navigate our way through an apple with a plastic knife to discover the number of seeds inside the apple. And of course we have read books and sang songs about apples. “Apple, Apple, Apple Seeds” has been one of our favorite songs; stop by and visit our classroom and listen to us sing this song. We have great voices!

We have also been fortunate to have had many different animal friends visit our classroom in the short time school has been in session. We have seen chicks, ducklings, a dog, puppies, a frog, and a cat. If you have an exciting animal friend you would like to share with us, please come visit our classroom. Visitors are always welcome! Over the next few weeks, our themes will focus on fire safety, leaves, and pumpkins.
