News From Principal Rick Lester

News From Principal Rick Lester:
I have been discussing with my staff and parents about how to improve our Parent/Teacher conference attendance. After further discussions and evaluations on this matter I have come to the conclusion that we may not have an issue after all. I believe a lot of our parents do not attend Parent/Teacher conferences because of the resources we have available. For example, parents can access their students grades anytime on power school - parents can see the grade for the class plus all the assignments and the grades they had received for those assignments. Another resource is three times a quarter parents receive information if their student is failing or receiving a "D" in a class. Another resource is just meeting with the teacher to discuss their academic standing.
We want to always encourage our parents to attend Parent/Teacher conferences because you can never replace face to face contact and communication. But now we believe maybe it is not as serious issue as we thought.
Just a reminder to parents, take advantage of these resources to gather information regarding your students academic standing. If there is anything else we can provide to you to help you assist in your students academic standing let me know and I will do the best I can.
