Websites Add a Fun Twist on Learning

by Rebecca Kling

In my Resource room, I send home Friday folders at the end of most weeks. These tell the parents how the students are doing in my classroom and what they have been working on during the week. It is also a great way to keep parents informed of any problems or praise the students on their achievements. If these are brought back with a parent signature, they receive computer time. During this time, they get to go to educational sites to play games, color on-line, etc. Most students really enjoy the opportunity to go on the computer and this is a great way to learn.

Our teachers have been updating their classroom sites to include online sites that are teacher approved. If you go on to the JCC website, you will be able to access these through the Moodle link. Your child has been going to this site through their technology class, so they will be able to show some of these links to you. Here are some of the links that my students enjoy going to.

www.funschool.com

www.the color.com

www.gamequarium.com

www.pbskids.com

www.blackdog.net

Encourage your student to go into these sites, it is not only fun but a great way to learn!
