Choir in Grades 6-8

So far this semester has been very successful for our middle school choirs. All of the students are working very hard in preparation for our first concert this semester (see below for concert info). Each of the classes will be singing three songs which is a huge step from the beginning of the year. I have been hearing definite differences in the student’s voices. They are listening to each other and staying in tune. They can usually correct themselves easily after only one time of reminding. All in all, our concert is going to be very good. The students will be doing something a little different than the norm for the spring concert. We are turning it into a pops concert and each class will hopefully have some new things to show you.
We received the results from the Meridian Honor Choir and Band. It was a difficult process and all of the students worked very hard on their auditions. We had seven students make it into the choir and one into the band. Keelee McClintock and Sopha Kongmanyvong will be our soprano representatives for the honor choir. Rudy Pooch, Schyler DeFreece, and Hannah Henneger are our alto representatives, and Ethan Clements and Austin Valenzuela are our baritone representatives. Grant Moles is one of two students chosen to play mallets in the honor band. Congratulations to these students!!! We are already hard at work preparing for the concert.
