Competition begins at 9:00 a.m.
The Johnson County Spelling Bee will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2015. This competition involves 4th grade through 8th grade students from the Sterling and Johnson County Central school districts. The Johnson County Spelling Bee contestants are chosen through classroom competitions at their school. There will be 8 competitors from each grade level; 4 from each school. The competition begins with written spelling. When all but eight spellers are eliminated, the competition goes to oral spelling. Medaling is for 1st through 3rd place for each grade level, with an overall 1st through 3rd places. The winner of the Johnson County Spelling Bee qualifies for the Midwest Spelling Bee on March 14 in Omaha. Spectators are welcome!
