First Grade

Mrs. Faris

May 02, 2017

Happy May Day!  The first graders had fun making a May Basket that they secretly delivered to their first grade friends in Mrs. Benson’s room.  They filled them with popcorn and a few candy treats.  We love special days in first grade.

The school year is winding down, but we have a few activities coming up that are very exciting.  On May 12th we have our annual track and field day.  It begins at 1:00 p.m.  Parents, grandparents, and other important family members are welcome to attend.  Each student has picked 4 events to compete in.  Please put sunscreen on your children and send a water bottle that we can fill and take along.

On May 18th at 7:00 p.m. is our spring concert in the high school gym.  The students have been practicing their songs and are excited to share them with you.

We are learning about zoo animals from North America, Asia, Africa, Australia, and the Oceans.  We are learning about the continents, the habitats, diets, and other characteristics of each individual animal.  This leads up to our final event for the school year.  On Monday, May 22nd, we will be traveling to the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha for our annual field trip.  It is a wonderful day for all of us.

The last day of classes is Tuesday, May 23rd.  It has been an amazing year of learning and growing.  I thank all of the parents of the students in my classroom.  It has been a wonderful year!  Thanks!
