Graduation Requirements

It shall be the policy of Johnson County Central High School that to receive a diploma from Johnson County Central High School a student must fully complete all requirements for graduation and complete other administrative requirements or conditions.  Only students who meet all requirements for a diploma will be eligible to participate in commencement exercises. Successful completion of a student’s I.E.P. goals and objectives shall qualify that student for completion of graduation requirements.  Requirements for graduation are set as follows:

 

Language Arts 50 hours (at least 40 hours of English is required)
Social Science 30 hours (must have 10 hours of either Geography or World History, and 10 hours each of American History and American Government)
Science 30 hours (must have 10 hours each of General Science and Biology I)
Mathematics 30 hours (must take a math class during 9th, 10, and 11th grade years)
Physical Education 10 hours (must have 5 hours of Physical Education 9 and 5 hours of Health 9)
Fine Arts 10 hours

 

   If a student’s individualized education plan (I.E.P.) requires education beyond his/her senior year, the student may be allowed to participate in commencement exercises but a diploma from Johnson County Central High School will be awarded only on completion of the I.E.P. or discontinuation of educational services.
