Busy! Busy! Busy!
Right now, all of the of middle school students are busy finishing up this semester of homework and getting ready for the holidays. Among all of that homework and assignments, they are in the process of writing essays for music which they will present sometime in January to their class. The sixth graders picked out instruments to research, the seventh graders are studying composers, and the eighth graders are going to enlighten their classes about different musical genres. Each one of the students have been working extremely hard on these projects and I am excited to see their presentations.
Several students in the seventh and eighth grade have decided to audition for the Meridian Honor Choir and Honor Band. For this audition, they must sing a particular scale as well as My Country Tis Of Thee (both without the piano). We are just finishing up these auditions to send in and should know who the judges choose sometime in January. The Honor Choir and Band will perform April 16th in Meridian.
Mireya Avitia, Humberto Gonzalez, Spencer Dorsey, Keelee McClintock, Grant Moles, Rudy Pooch, Natalie Roddy, and Austin Valenzuela are going to Belle Terrace this Friday, the 16th, to sing some Christmas carols. I am planning on arranging for a day sometime in the spring to take more students from 6th, 7th, and 8th grade to sing.
Lastly, the middle school holiday program is December 20th at 7:00 pm. All the students have been working very hard to get our program ready for our audience. Thanksgiving break came and went, and we have found ourselves with very little time to rehearse our songs. But... I know that the students are excited and will very be ready to show our talents
