On Friday, October 14, Governor Pete Ricketts and Jake Steinfeld, Chairman of the National Foundation for Governors' Fitness Councils (NFGFC) will be at Johnson County Central Schools in Cook to help celebrate our new $100,000 DON’T QUIT! Fitness Center. Johnson County Central School will be recognized by the Governor’s Fitness Council as an outstanding school. The school and staff will be recognized for demonstrating leadership and for the importance our district places on physical fitness and the health of our students.

Johnson County Central was one of three schools in Nebraska selected to receive the award. Staff submitted an application and worked with students to create a video to apply for the gift. Each fitness center is financed through public/private partnerships with companies like The Coca-Cola Company, Anthem Foundation, Wheels Up and Nike, and does not rely on taxpayer dollars or state funding. My Fitness Store Commercial provides all the fitness equipment. The foundation’s goal is to build a nation of the fittest, healthiest kids in the world. We are very excited for our new fitness center and equipment.
