JCC competed in the 2022 Junior High MUDECAS Track Meet on Saturday, April 9th 2022, in Adams, Nebraska (hosted by Freeman). The JCC JH Boys took home first place with 110 points. The 2022 JCC Junior High Girls BB Tournament will be on Saturday, January 29th, at the JCC Middle School Site in Cook. Games begin at 8:30 a.m. We will play 6 min. quarters, with a 5 min. halftime. As we quickly approach Thanksgiving and Christmas Breaks, sixth graders are starting to adjust to life in Middle School. Don't forget! There will be a silent auction and baked potato feed at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, December 9th before the middle school winter music concert at 7:00 p.m. The high school band has rounded up many items to auction off including quilts, gift certificates, various baskets, a bluetooth stereo, and two tickets to ERIC CHURCH! All proceeds from the silent auctions will go toward the high school band trip in May and the baked potato feed will go towards Music Boosters.

Junior High Volleyball got under way this week. It is going to be a tough first week with games on Tuesday, Thursday and a tournament on Saturday. This does not give the teams a lot of time to make corrections for the next game. Tuesday was a home game versus the Palmyra Panthers. The C team played 1 set, while the B and A teams played complete matches. The C team won their set, the B team lost both their sets and the A team lost both their sets. Once or twice a month during the 2015-2016 school year, the fifth grade students have been studying dinosaurs. During the first semester, each student picked a dinosaur to study. The students have researched, written reports, given presentations, and built a replica of their dinosaurs. The dinosaur models are displayed in the common areas by the middle school's new gym. The sixth grade choir has started working on their music videos. I started this project with the sixth graders last year and it turned out to be a great project for them during this down time in January. We have a number of different groups using a various genres of music; everything from classic rock to hip hop. The students really get to open up their creative abilities with this project and I hope to continue it in the future. Many students at the high school and middle school level have been auditioning for Class C All-State . . .

The 2015 Johnson County Central Junior High Boys Basketball Tournament will be held at the Middle School Gym (Cook) on Saturday, December 5, 2015. JCC welcomes the junior high boys basketball teams from Auburn, Falls City and Freeman. Games begin at 8:30 a.m. The games will have 6 minute quarters with a 5 minute halftime. We’re always keeping things interesting and exciting in Room 107! Currently, the students are participating in a Harry Potter themed ‘House Cup Competition’! Students are divided into ‘houses’ in the classroom, with 1-3 other students in their group. The JCC Cross Country team has sent two teams to the State Cross Country meet the last 2 years and is looking for new members to join the program and continue to build this tradition.
