Anxiously Awaiting Spring in Preschool!

By Cheryl Panko

February 27, 2018

Since seeing that the groundhog saw his shadow on Feb. 2nd, we have been anxiously awaiting Spring’s arrival.  We received a tower garden in our classroom at Cook and planted peppers, peas, lettuce, bok choy, swiss chard and basil.  Once we harvest our produce we plan to have a salad feast.

Each day during calendar time we have been counting how many days of school we have had so far this year.  We will arrive at our 100th day of school mid March and plan to celebrate the number 100 in several different ways.

Our current unit of study entails simple machines.  We investigated pulleys and levers and our next topics cover screws and inclined planes. We have learned 17 letters of alphabet and will be covering letters E, W, J and X during the month of March.  The students always have fun bringing something each week which represents the letter we are studying.  Show and Share is one of the students favorite activities.
