Infection Prevention

Infection Prevention

We have had several cases of Fifth disease.  This is a mild, common rash illness caused by a virus.  Outbreaks occur frequently in child care settings and schools.  We also have had colds and stomach virus illnesses occurring.

Please continue to practice good handwashing for at least 20 seconds after wiping your nose or mouth.  Dispose of tissues immediately after using.  Do not send your child to school if they have a fever >100.0.  They must also be without a fever for 24 hours prior to coming back to school.  Talk with your healthcare provider regarding their recommendations for care.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the school nurses at 864-4181(Cook site) or 335-3320(Tecumseh site).  Thank you.
