P.E. = The best homework!

November 21, 2016

Hello Everyone!

The K-3 students have physical education every day. Studies show that it is good for the students to get exercise every day as it helps students improve their academics. I give the kids homework every weekend to get outside and play. They tell me I give the best homework! The students go through daily exercises and I choose a different student every day to lead them through those exercises that include push-ups, sit ups, grasshoppers, heel touches and jumping jacks. We have been working on improving locomotor skills such as running, jumping, hopping, galloping, and skipping. We will be starting our unit on throwing and catching next week!

I have the freshman and upper classmen every day this year and they love their PE time. We just ended our ultimate Frisbee and soccer units. We are currently playing the badminton doubles tournament and next week we will begin our singles tournament. It gets very competitive! Look for us to get into pickle ball and basketball before Christmas break.

I also started teaching a freshman health class this year and it’s a lot of fun to be back in the classroom. The students enjoy and are taking an interest in subject. We just finished up our testing on mental health and will be talking about nutrition, emotion and physical health later this semester.

Happy Holidays!
