¡Hola!

January 05, 2017

Beyond the routine vocabulary and conversations in Spanish, the highlight of last semester in Spanish levels 1-2 was celebrating Día de los Muertos. The kids enjoyed various games studying the vocabulary, reading and watching a video about Day of the Dead (celebrated during All Saints Day). The 6th of January we will be learning about how some families celebrate Los Reyes Magos (Three Kings Day). Hopefully, we will celebrate Semana Santa (Easter) as well.

Within the daily grind, we create many projects so that students might have an opportunity to use the language instead of learning it verbatim. I look forward to this semester as they now have a base vocabulary set. We’ve also included a couple of slang words each week which they enjoy using.

In Intrigas the students have done a wonderful job with expanding their writing creativity. While they’ve written several academic essays, I believe they welcomed the change of genre when they had to create a story in which the main character existed in two dimensions of time. I thoroughly enjoyed the humor and thought put into their writings. The students are working very well.

¡Hasta la proxima vez!
