IMPORTANT NEW CHANGES FOR DRIVER’S ED:
There have been some changes made by the NE DMV this year. Because of these changes and the fact that we have limited time in the summer to teach the classroom instruction and the driver’s portion of Driver’s Education, we have had to implement the following requirements for JCC Driver’s Education. If your child doesn’t meet the requirements below, they will be eligible next summer.
- There is no longer a distance requirement for getting a school permit. If you live in a town that has a population of 5,000 or less, you can get a school permit regardless of distance from school.
- In order to get all kids done with the driving part of the test, they must have their school permit or school learner’s permit before August 1st in order to drive. You must have your school learner’s permit for 2 months before getting your school permit, so get it as soon as possible.
Note: If you are 13, you must turn 14 by October 15 in order to be eligible to take Driver’s Education.
