Truck Driving Program - Opportunity to Start in High School

November 30, 2022

If any JCC seniors who are at least 18 years old have an interest in becoming a professional truck driver, SCC offers an online class to get students started in the program. There are 7 spots left in the online truck driving classroom section for Spring through SCC right now.

Students who register for this class must be very motivated and responsible to log in daily and get all of their assignments done as this is a very intensive course.

After taking this course, students would need to do the following: Take the next courseTRUK 1124 Professional Truck Driver Training Driving Lab at either SCC Milford or SCC Lincoln. This is an intensive training hands on course for tractor/ trailer drivers. It includes, inspections, time logs, defensive driving and skill development in coupling and uncoupling.

In order to take this second course, students must have achieved a “C” (70%) grade or higher in TRUK1114. Students must have also completed a Department of Transportation Physical Examination, have had Department of Transportation Pre-Employment Drug Screen, submitted a copy of their Motor Vehicle Record for the past three years and must have obtained a Class A Commercial Learner’s Permit to enroll in TRUK1124.

If any students want to take the first class in the program online, they need to talk to Mrs. Reuter as soon as possible. Since this is a dual credit SCC class, JCC will pay for the course as long as the student completes the course and earns a grade of a 70% or higher, and as long as the student has not already taken two other dual credit classes this year.
